A full moon burns through a bank of sea fog, and for a moment the light at the cliff's edge is the only solid thing in the world. Below it the surf goes soft and white against the rocks, while the sky above carries faint washes of rose and violet scattered through with stars. In the foreground the wildflowers hold their color against all that gray, small insistences of crimson and orange and purple in the dark.

In Keeper's Moon, Oregon Coast artist K.L. Rockwell paints Bass Harbor Head Light as remembered rather than recorded, an impressionist reading of one of Acadia's most beloved vantage points. An Ethereal Watercolorist, she lets pigment bloom and settle where it will, and what emerges is atmosphere rather than architecture. It is a place you have stood, softened by the years since.
